- **Author**: `creator-claude-01` (role: creator) · 2026-10-02
`ensure_env_loaded()` 가 `_load_dotenv()` 전에 `_env_loaded = True` 를 세웠고, F2 의 `load_env_or_report()` 가 예외를 반환값으로 바꾸면서 같은 프로세스의 두 번째 호출이 깨진 파일을 건너뛰게 됐다.
- `.agents/skills/lib_py/delegation/mqtt_common.py` `ensure_env_loaded`: `_load_dotenv(workspace_dir)` **뒤에** `_env_loaded = True`.
- `tests/test_issue26_envfile.py::test_a1_a_failed_load_is_not_cached_as_loaded` — 한 프로세스에서 실제 `registry.main(['--registry-dir', <jobs>, 'register', '--prompt', …])` 를 깨진 UTF-8 파일로 두 번 호출하고 파일을 복구·변경하며 확인:
`tests/test_issue26_envfile.py tests/test_issue5_phase1_delegation.py tests/test_tier1_unit.py tests/test_version_consistency.py tests/test_issue18_liveness_contract.py` → **205 passed in 178.52s** (envfile 38 · issue5 66 · tier1 67 · version 3 · issue18 31). issue5 의 `ensure_env_loaded` 멱등 단언(`:506-508`)도 통과.
## 5. 위생
- `test_version_consistency` 가 기존부터 작업 트리에 `.mam/shim/herdr` 를 쓴다(직전 리포트에 보고한 base 동작).

F1~F6 (job `aa7f2b5f`)
- **Author**: `creator-claude-01` (role: creator) · 2026-10-02

- 수정(`tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py`): `_marker_lstart()` 가 `" ".join(out.split())`(= `tr -s ' '` + trim)로 기록. `@pytest.mark.parametrize("ps", ["real", "padded"])` — `padded` 는 PATH 앞의 `ps` 심이 lstart 요청에 항상 `Thu Oct 1 08:02:03 2026` 을 돌려주므로 **날짜와 무관하게** 두 칸 공백 경로를 지난다(심이 실제로 쓰였는지 `Thu Oct 1 …` 로 확인).
- `mqtt_common.load_env_or_report() -> bool`: `ensure_env_loaded()` 를 부르고 `EnvFileError` 면 `print(f"ERROR: {e}", file=sys.stderr)` 후 False. 각 main 은 `if not …: return 1`(job_subscriber 는 `RC_ERROR`). 메시지는 `envfile` 의 `"{path}: cannot read ({type})"` 그대로라 값·내용이 들어가지 않는다.
### F3 — .mam.env
- (b) `apply()` 가 이미 있는 키를 건너뛰므로 첫 값이 이긴다(동작 무변경) — FORMAT 절에 `a key given twice keeps its FIRST value` 와 BOM 규칙 추가.
- (a) `runner._int_knob(name, minimum)` → None(미설정·잘못된 값, 후자는 노브당 경고 1회) 이면 호출부 기본값. 최솟값과 근거(`tests/test_issue26_ints.py` `RUNNER_INT_KNOBS`):
- (b) bash 노브(`INT_KNOBS` 에 추가, `NOT_ARITHMETIC` 에서 제거):
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `MAM_READY_EMPTY_GIVEUP` | lib.sh `wait_for_tui_ready` | 1 | 5 | 0 은 1 과 같게 동작 |
| `SKS_EMPTY_GIVEUP` | lib.sh `_pane_quiescent` | 1 | 3 | 같음 |
| `SKS_IDLE_RETRIES` | lib.sh `wait_for_agent_idle` | 0 | 2 | 0 = 재시도 없음 |
| `SKS_IDLE_RETRY_BACKOFF_S` | 같음(sleep) | 0 | 10 | test_issue6 가 0 사용; 소수 사용처 없음 |
| `MAM_LOCK_STEAL_RETRIES` | loop_lock.sh | 0 | 3 | 0 = 한 번 시도 |
| `MAM_DIFF_MAX_BYTES`/`_LINES` | diff_collect.sh | 1 | 200000/4000 | 0 은 모든 diff 를 자름 |
| `RECONCILE_POLL_INTERVAL` | reconcile.sh(sleep) | 1 | 15 | 0
연쇄 변경: `deploy/remove.sh` 의 매니페스트 없는 폴백 목록에 `lib_int.sh` 추가(설치는 `.agents/skills` 의 모든 파일을 복사하므로 그대로 배포됨), `test_issue21_loop_b::l15` 가 가짜 제어 루트에 `diff_collect.sh` 만 두던 것을 `lib_int.sh` 도 함께 두게.
- `StallWatch.__init__` 의 `MAM_TEST_UNRELIABLE_AGENT` 두 줄 삭제(이제 `.agents/skills` 전체에 `MAM_TEST_` 없음).
- S13: `_watch(..., unreliable=True)` 가 `python -c _UNRELIABLE_MAIN claude <args>` 로 실제 `stall_watch.main()` 을 실행하되, 그 프로세스에서 `type(get_adapter("claude")).agent_status_reliable = property(lambda self: False)`. 검증 내용은 그대로(5 초 동안 idle 알림·nudge 없음 → blocked 알림 `stalled:blocked Do you want to proceed?` → 로그 `idle judgement off for claude`).
| 항목 | base(0051fd6)에서 | 수정 후 |
|---|---|---|

## 5. 위생
- 작업 트리: 최종 `git status --short --ignored` = `!! .venv/` 만. 단, 최종 실행 중 **`.mam/shim/herdr` 가 작업 트리에 생겼다** → 파일별로 나눠 돌려 원인을 찾았다: `tests/test_version_consistency.py::_get_lib_sh_mam_version` 이 `WORKSPACE_ROOT` 없이 `lib.sh` 를 source → `_init_herdr_isolation` 이 `<저장소>/.mam/shim/herdr` 를 쓴다.
- `lib.sh` 변경은 `mam_int`/`mam_int_knob` 블록을 `lib_int.sh` 로 옮기고 그 자리에서 `source "$(dirname "${BASH_SOURCE[0]}")/lib_int.sh"`.

- **Reviewer**: `planner-reviewer-claude-01` (role: planner,reviewer) · 2026-10-02
- **검증 경로**: `/var/folders/.../T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2`.
- **수정 없이는 실패하는가 — 확인함**: 사본에서 `mqtt_common.py` 만 `95eabc6` 판으로 되돌리고 새 `test_a1_a_failed_load_is_not_cached_as_loaded` 를 돌리면 실패한다.

## F1 — A8 의 날짜 의존 (`tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py:258-300`)
- 제품 코드(`loop_lock.sh` 의 `mam_lstart`)는 **그대로**다. `loop_lock.sh` 의 diff 는 F4b 의 `MAM_LOCK_STEAL_RETRIES` 한 줄뿐이다.
- 같은 패턴의 다른 테스트: `test_o3_scoped_guard.py:_get_lstart` 는 이미 `" ".join(...split())` 로 정규화한다.
`job_subscriber` 는 `RC_ERROR`(=1)로 이름을 썼다.
## F3 — `.mam.env` 세부
- (a) BOM: `envfile.py:60-61` 이 `utf-8-sig` 로 연다.
- (b) 중복 키는 첫 값 우선: 동작은 그대로(`apply` 가 `if key not in environ`)이고 `.mam.env.example` FORMAT 절에 한 줄 추가했다.
|---|---|---|
| `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S` | 0 | 예산만큼 정확히 대기 |
| `MAM_JOB_TREE_MAX` | 1 | 0 이면 모든 트리가 "초과"; 대기하지 않으려면 `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S=0` |
세 값 모두 표 `RUNNER_INT_KNOBS` 에 들어갔다.
- (b) bash 노브: `MAM_READY_EMPTY_GIVEUP`·`SKS_EMPTY_GIVEUP`(min 1), `SKS_IDLE_RETRIES`·`SKS_IDLE_RETRY_BACKOFF_S`(min 0), `MAM_LOCK_STEAL_RETRIES`(min 0), `MAM_DIFF_MAX_BYTES/LINES`(min 1), `RECONCILE_POLL_INTERVAL`(min 1 — 0 이면 바쁜 루프)가 `mam_int_knob` 을 거친다.
`test_issue21_loop_b.py` 의 한 줄도 L15 가 `diff_collect.sh` 를 복사해 쓰므로 필요한 동반 수정이다.
- 회귀 `test_b1_runner_*`·`test_b5_*` 가 base 에서 실패한다.
## F5 — 테스트 스위치 제거 (`stall_watch.py`, `test_issue30_stall_watch.py`)
- `MAM_TEST_UNRELIABLE_AGENT` 두 줄을 삭제했다.
- 새 `test_s13_the_unreliable_case_needs_no_switch_in_the_product`(`MAM_TEST_` 문자열 부재)가 base 에서 실패한다.
```
tests/test_issue26_envfile.py tests/test_issue26_ints.py tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py tests/test_issue30_stall_watch.py
→ 335 passed, 1 skipped in 451.38s failed 0 (skip = S6, /proc)
```
```
47 failed, 88 passed in 110.20s
```
|---|---|
| F2 | `test_a1_python_entry_points_report_an_unreadable_file_in_one_line` 14건(7 진입점 × 권한/UTF-8) |
| F3 | `test_a7_a_leading_bom_…`, `…_repeated_key_keeps_its_first_value…`, `…_missing_explicit_file_…` |
| F4 | `test_b1_runner_wait_grace/child_wait/job_tree_max_*`, `test_b5_*`(표·최솟값·lib.sh 없이 source 되는 두 스크립트·`_pane_quiescent`) |
| F5 | `test_s13_the_unreliable_case_needs_no_switch_in_the_product` |
- `lib_int.sh` 분리와 그에 따른 `deploy/remove.sh`·`test_issue21_loop_b.py` 의 한 줄은 F4b 의 동반 변경이다.

이전 head `95eabc6` 이후 diff는 `mqtt_common.py`, `MESSAGING.md`, `test_issue26_envfile.py` 세 파일뿐이다.

새 테스트 `tests/test_issue26_envfile.py:470`은 실제 `registry.main()`을 **하나의 프로세스에서 두 번** 실행한다.
로그: `/tmp/8c0c6c5a-reprobe.log`.
역검증은 `95eabc6`을 `/tmp/8c0c6c5a-before`에 archive로 풀고 현재 envfile 테스트만 복사해 `test_a1_a_failed_load_is_not_cached_as_loaded`를 실행했다. 로그: `/tmp/8c0c6c5a-before.log`.
`tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py:268`의 공백 정규화와 `:275`의 real/padded 조건이 현재 head에서도 유지된다. |
| F2 오류 한 줄/rc 1 | 충족. 일곱 Python main이 `mqtt_common.load_env_or_report()`를 통해 오류를 반환하며 라이브러리 함수는 sys.exit하지 않는다.
`SKS_QUIESCENT_INTERVAL`의 소수 기본값 0.5는 유지되고 예외 사유가 표에 있다. loop SKILL.md에 MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S가 문서화됐다. |
`tests/test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py:429`–`:436`에서 두 번째 wait 내부의 소멸과 두 번의 wait 수행을 강제한다. |
짧은 제품 경로는 `.agents/skills/` 아래다. F1/F3/F4/F5/F6는 직전 head에서 수정되지 않았다.

- 실행 로그: `/tmp/8c0c6c5a-selected.log`.

# Follow-ups #41/#43 review — b5db3aee

**근거:** `.agents/skills/lib_py/delegation/mqtt_common.py:125`는 `_load_dotenv()`가 성공하기 **전**에 `_env_loaded=True`로 설정한다. 따라서 `registry.main()`(`.agents/skills/lib_py/delegation/registry.py:535`–`:540`) 등을 같은 프로세스에서 다시 호출하면 helper가 파일을 읽지 않고 `True`를 반환한다.
WORKSPACE_ROOT/jobs/logs도 임시 경로에 둔다.
2. 하나의 Python 프로세스에서 실제 `registry.main(['--registry-dir', <tmp/jobs>, 'register', '--prompt', 'synthetic retry probe'])`를 두 번 호출한다.
3. 파일을 유효한 `EXPECTED_CONFIG=from-file`로 복구한 뒤 `load_env_or_report()`를 호출한다.
그러나 `_env_loaded=True` |
**수정 방향:** `_env_loaded=True`를 `_load_dotenv(workspace_dir)`의 **성공 뒤**로 옮겨 성공만 캐시한다.
원본 및 대안 로그는 각각 `/tmp/b5db3aee-probe-cache.log`, `/tmp/b5db3aee-probe-cache-fixed.log`이다.
|---|---|---|
| F1 날짜 의존 테스트 | 충족 | `tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py:268`의 `_marker_lstart`가 공백을 정규화한다. 비슷한 패턴 검색 결과 `test_o3_scoped_guard.py:57`은 이미 정규화하고, `test_o2_race_free_lock.py:40`의 raw helper는 호출되지 않는 정의다.
새 프로세스에서 권한/UTF-8 오류 14개 조합은 한 줄/rc 1/값 비노출을 검증한다(`tests/test_issue26_envfile.py:184`). job_subscriber의 `RC_ERROR`는 1로 계약과 맞는다.
`tests/test_issue26_envfile.py:414` 이후 세 테스트가 실제 두 로더와 문서를 함께 확인한다. |
위 표의 짧은 제품 경로는 `.agents/skills/` 아래이며 runner는 `lib_py/loop/runner.py`, envfile은 `lib_py/delegation/envfile.py`이다.
(see the line above)`를 한 줄 더 출력한다.
**44 failed, 17 passed, 118 deselected in 72.16s**. 로그: `/tmp/b5db3aee-before.log`.
로그: `/tmp/b5db3aee-f1-behavior.log`.
로그: `/tmp/b5db3aee-test-mutations.log`.
로그: `/tmp/b5db3aee-selected.log`.
- 공통 Bash helper/lock/poll 변경의 추가 검증(`test_o2_race_free_lock.py`, `test_issue6_turn_handshake.py`, `test_issue19_subscriber_daemon_lifecycle.py`): **52 passed in 102.02s**, rc 0. 로그: `/tmp/b5db3aee-extra.log`.
- 검증 종료 후 `git status --short`/`git diff --quiet`는 clean이며 HEAD/tree도 동일하다.

## 3. Requirement Verification & Findings
### F1: Date-dependent Test Bug Resolution
- **Issue**: `tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py::test_a8_second_loop_is_refused_before_a_scheduler_exists` failed on calendar days 1–9 due to `ps -o lstart=` double-space padding vs `mam_lstart` single-space normalization (`tr -s ' '`).
- **Implementation**:
- `_marker_lstart` normalizes ps output with `" ".join(out.split())` in [`tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py#L554-L559).
- Parameterized with `_PADDED_PS` shim to deterministically test single-digit day padding across all runs.
- **Verification**: `test_issue21_acceptance.py` passes completely (10/10 passed).
### F2: Python Entry Point EnvFileError Reporting & Retry Behavior (including R1)
- **Issue**: Missing/unreadable `.mam.env` should produce a single error line (`ERROR: <path>: cannot read (<exception type>)`) and exit with returncode 1, without a Python traceback or leaking secrets. Furthermore, a failed load must not be cached as loaded so subsequent entry point invocations in the same process can retry or fail consistently.
- **Implementation**:
- [`load_env_or_report()`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/lib_py/delegation/mqtt_common.py#L130-L141) wraps `ensure_env_loaded()` and prints `ERROR: <e>` to `sys.stderr` returning `False`.
- In [`mqtt_common.py`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/lib_py/delegation/mqtt_common.py#L125), `_env_loaded = True` is only assigned after `_load_dotenv()` successfully completes.
- All process entry points (`publish_event`, `registry`, `job_subscriber`, `cli`, `bench`, `heartbeat`, `remote`) guard their main functions with `if not mqtt_common.load_env_or_report(): return 1`.
- Added [`test_a1_a_failed_load_is_not_cached_as_loaded`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/tests/test_issue26_envfile.py#L721-L740) validating that consecutive invocations with broken files fail with rc 1 and do not register jobs, and once repaired, reload and succeed.
- Updated documentation in [`MESSAGING.md`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/MESSAGING.md#L509-L511).
- **Verification**: `tests/test_issue26_envfile.py` passes all 38 tests.
### F3: `.mam.env` Refinements
- **Implementation**:
- `parse()` in [`lib_py/delegation/envfile.py`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/lib_py/delegation/envfile.py#L58) uses `utf-8-sig` encoding, properly ignoring leading BOMs.
- Repeated keys retain their first defined value, documented in [`.mam.env.example`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.mam.env.example#L497).
- Missing `MAM_ENV_FILE` is skipped silently without falling back to ambient search.
- **Verification**: Regression tests `test_a7_a_leading_bom_is_not_part_of_the_first_key`, `test_a7_a_repeated_key_keeps_its_first_value_as_documented`, and `test_a7_a_missing_explicit_file_loads_nothing_and_says_nothing` all pass.
### F4: Integer Knob Expansion & `lib_int.sh`
- **Implementation**:
- Created standalone [`.agents/skills/lib_int.sh`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/lib_int.sh) containing `mam_int` and `mam_int_knob`. Added to [`deploy/remove.sh`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/deploy/remove.sh#L85).
- Sourced by scripts executed with and without `lib.sh` ([`loop_lock.sh`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/multi-agent-mux-loop/scripts/loop_lock.sh), [`diff_collect.sh`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/multi-agent-mux-loop/scripts/diff_collect.sh), [`lib.sh`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/lib.sh), [`reconcile.sh`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/multi-agent-mux-monitor/scripts/reconcile.sh)).
- Python loop runner [`LoopRunner._int_knob`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/lib_py/loop/runner.py#L355) parses `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S`, `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S`, and `MAM_JOB_TREE_MAX`, falling back cleanly to defaults upon invalid input.
- Documented in [`multi-agent-mux-loop/SKILL.md`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/multi-agent-mux-loop/SKILL.md#L427).
- Fractional float nature of `SKS_QUIESCENT_INTERVAL` is preserved and documented in `NOT_ARITHMETIC`.
- **Verification**: `tests/test_issue26_ints.py` passes all 93 test cases.
### F5: Removal of Test Hooks in Production Code
- **Implementation**:
- Removed `MAM_TEST_UNRELIABLE_AGENT` from [`lib_py/stall_watch.py`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/lib_py/stall_watch.py).
- [`tests/test_issue30_stall_watch.py`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/tests/test_issue30_stall_watch.py#L924-L938) sets `adapter.agent_status_reliable = property(lambda self: False)` via test-side injection.
- **Verification**: `test_s13_the_unreliable_case_needs_no_switch_in_the_product` and all 48 stall watch tests pass.
### F6: Documentation Precision & Mid-Wait Termination Testing
- **Implementation**:
- Refined `<= 60 s` comment in [`multi-agent-mux-delegate-job/SKILL.md`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/.agents/skills/multi-agent-mux-delegate-job/SKILL.md#L412) to specifically denote herdr wait duration.
- Added `in_wait` hook in [`tests/test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py`](file:///var/folders/q_/68sxgw3j073dgjg8wl9s08vw0000gn/T/mam-review/loop-20261001T230324Z-b511bf/2/tests/test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py#L979-L1018) ensuring deterministic termination during the second wait tick.
- **Verification**: All 11 tests in `test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py` pass cleanly.
---

## 1. Executive Summary
This review audits the follow-up changes addressing residual items from PR #41 (v4.8.0) and PR #43 (v4.8.1).
The changes encompass 8 atomic commits on branch `fix/followups-41-43`, addressing items **F1** through **F6**.
All 6 items are implemented surgically, verified with deterministic regression tests, and maintain clean separation of concerns without introducing out-of-scope changes:
- **F1**: Resolved the date-dependent `ps -o lstart=` double-space padding mismatch in `test_issue21_acceptance.py`.
- **F2**: Standardized Python entry point error reporting for unreadable `.mam.env` files to print a single `ERROR:` line with exit code 1 (no traceback or credential leaks), without library code invoking `sys.exit`.
- **F3**: Added UTF-8 BOM (`utf-8-sig`) handling, documented first-value precedence for duplicate keys in `.mam.env.example`, and aligned `MESSAGING.md` documentation with actual file search semantics.
- **F4**: Unified integer knobs across Python and Bash (`lib_int.sh`), eliminating `ValueError` and shell arithmetic syntax errors on non-integer inputs, while preserving fractional seconds where appropriate (`SKS_QUIESCENT_INTERVAL`).
- **F5**: Removed the `MAM_TEST_UNRELIABLE_AGENT` test switch from production code in `stall_watch.py` and converted `test_s13` to mock adapter properties dynamically in the test process.
- **F6**: Clarified herdr wait bounds in `SKILL.md` and hardened the mid-wait wrapper termination test in `test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py`.
All relevant test suites executed in the isolated verification path passed 100%.

## 2. Item-by-Item Detailed Audit
### 2.1. F1: Date-dependent Test Bug (`test_issue21_acceptance.py`)
- **Root Cause**: `ps -p <pid> -o lstart=` pads single-digit day numbers with a leading space (e.g. `"Oct 1"`), whereas `loop_lock.sh`'s `mam_lstart` compresses whitespace using `tr -s ' '` (`"Oct 1"`). When `test_a8_second_loop_is_refused_before_a_scheduler_exists` wrote raw `ps` output to the lock marker on days 1–9 of any month, the strings diverged, causing false lock staleness detections.
- **Implementation**:
- `tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py#L549-L554`: Added `_marker_lstart(pid, env)` which normalizes `lstart` via `" ".join(out.split())` matching `mam_lstart`.
- Added `_PADDED_PS` shim (`#L541-L547`) to test both `"real"` and forced `"padded"` scenarios parametrically (`#L556-L587`).
- Production code `loop_lock.sh` was appropriately left untouched.
### 2.2. F2: Python Entry Points' Single-Line `EnvFileError` Output
- **Implementation**:
- Added `load_env_or_report() -> bool` in `lib_py/delegation/mqtt_common.py#L279-L290`. When `EnvFileError` is caught, it prints `ERROR: {e}` to `sys.stderr` and returns `False`.
- Process entry points (`publish_event.py`, `registry.py`, `job_subscriber.py`, `cli.py`, `bench.py`, `heartbeat.py`, `remote.py`) call `load_env_or_report()` and exit with code 1 (`RC_ERROR` in `job_subscriber.py`).
- Library functions (`ensure_env_loaded()`, `_parse_env_file()`) never call `sys.exit()` directly.
- Secret safety: Neither file contents nor variable values are printed.
- Test coverage: `tests/test_issue26_envfile.py#L606-L645` (`test_a1_python_entry_points_report_an_unreadable_file_in_one_line`) tests all 7 modules under permission denial (`chmod 000`) and invalid UTF-8 decoding, verifying exact error format and absence of tracebacks.
### 2.3. F3: `.mam.env` Parser & Documentation Refinements
- **Implementation**:
- (a) **UTF-8 BOM**: `lib_py/delegation/envfile.py#L215` opens files with `encoding="utf-8-sig"`, automatically stripping any leading BOM (`\xef\xbb\xbf`) so the first key is not rejected as invalid. Verified by `test_a7_a_leading_bom_is_not_part_of_the_first_key`.
- (b) **Duplicate Keys**: Added explicit documentation in `.mam.env.example#L492`: `"a key given twice keeps its FIRST value (a later line does not replace it);"`. Verified by `test_a7_a_repeated_key_keeps_its_first_value_as_documented`.
- (c) **Documentation Alignment**: Updated `MESSAGING.md#L505` to describe actual behavior: non-existent `MAM_ENV_FILE` is skipped silently (falling back to environment and defaults, without ambient parent directory walk), while an unreadable file raises `EnvFileError` and exits 1. Verified by `test_a7_a_missing_explicit_file_loads_nothing_and_says_nothing`.
### 2.4. F4: Integer Knob Expansion & Normalization
- **Python Runner Knobs (`lib_py/loop/runner.py`)**:
- Added `LoopRunner._int_knob(name, minimum)` (`#L350-L362`) leveraging `_positive_int`. Invalid values log a single warning to `sys.stderr` and fall back to defaults, preventing `ValueError` crashes.
- Knobs configured: `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S` (min 0, default 300), `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S` (min 0, default `job_budget + grace`), `MAM_JOB_TREE_MAX` (min 1, default 50).
- Documented `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S` in `multi-agent-mux-loop/SKILL.md#L422`, `#L431`.
- **Bash Normalization & `lib_int.sh`**:
- Extracted integer normalization logic into dedicated `.agents/skills/lib_int.sh` (`#L1-L39`), sourced by `lib.sh`, `loop_lock.sh`, and `diff_collect.sh`. Added to `deploy/remove.sh#L517`.
- Normalized knobs:
- `MAM_READY_EMPTY_GIVEUP`: min 1, default 5 (`lib.sh#L2417`)
- `SKS_EMPTY_GIVEUP`: min 1, default 3 (`lib.sh#L2613`)
- `SKS_IDLE_RETRIES`: min 0, default 2 (`lib.sh#L2683`)
- `SKS_IDLE_RETRY_BACKOFF_S`: min 0, default 10 (`lib.sh#L2684`)
- `MAM_LOCK_STEAL_RETRIES`: min 0, default 3 (`loop_lock.sh#L465`)
- `MAM_DIFF_MAX_BYTES`: min 1, default 200000 (`diff_collect.sh#L448`)
- `MAM_DIFF_MAX_LINES`: min 1, default 4000 (`diff_collect.sh#L449`)
- `RECONCILE_POLL_INTERVAL`: min 1, default 15 (`reconcile.sh#L478`)
- Preserved fractional semantics: `SKS_QUIESCENT_INTERVAL` is intentionally kept as float (default 0.5s) and documented in `NOT_ARITHMETIC`.
- Test coverage: `tests/test_issue26_ints.py` updated with all new knobs, table minimum verifications, and standalone sourcing tests (`test_b5_scripts_sourced_without_lib_sh_read_their_knobs_as_decimal`).
### 2.5. F5: Test Hook Removal from Production Code
- **Implementation**:
- Removed `if os.environ.get("MAM_TEST_UNRELIABLE_AGENT") == args.agent: reliable = False` from `lib_py/stall_watch.py#L228`.
- In `tests/test_issue30_stall_watch.py#L880-L886`, updated `_watch` to inject an `_UNRELIABLE_MAIN` wrapper that sets `type(get_adapter(...)).agent_status_reliable = property(lambda self: False)` dynamically in the test process.
- Added `test_s13_the_unreliable_case_needs_no_switch_in_the_product` (`#L918-L922`) to ensure production code contains no `MAM_TEST_` switches.
### 2.6. F6: Documentation & Test Precision
- **Implementation**:
- `multi-agent-mux-delegate-job/SKILL.md#L407-L410`: Clarified that `<= 60 s` applies to herdr wait calls, and noted that active notification publishing can extend wrapper wait time until publication completes.
- `tests/test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py#L936-L975`: Updated `test_a_wrapper_gone_during_the_wait_gets_no_notice_and_no_nudge` with an `in_wait` hook that flips wrapper liveness strictly during the second wait (`tick == 2`), avoiding heuristic call-count assumptions.

- `git diff --check 95eabc6..HEAD` is clean. That commit is 3 files, +41/−2: `mqtt_common.py`, `MESSAGING.md`, `tests/test_issue26_envfile.py`.
`75f364e` is the only change since `95eabc6`. It closes codex F2 R1: a failed env load was cached as loaded.
## F2 review R1
`load_env_or_report` catches `EnvFileError` and returns False (`mqtt_common.py:131-142`). The caller returns 1 and the process keeps running, so a later `ensure_env_loaded` in the same process must try the file again.
Previously the flag was set before `_load_dotenv`. The first `registry.main` printed the error and returned 1, and the second skipped the file and registered a job. `ensure_env_loaded` now sets `_env_loaded` only after `_load_dotenv` returns (`mqtt_common.py:122-128`). An `EnvFileError` leaves the flag false.
`envfile.parse` reads the whole file before it returns pairs (`envfile.py:59-64`), and `apply` calls `parse` before it writes `os.environ`. A read or decode failure sets nothing, so the retry does not see a half-applied file.
`test_a1_a_failed_load_is_not_cached_as_loaded` (`tests/test_issue26_envfile.py:470-488`) runs `registry.main` twice in one process on an undecodable file: both rc 1, the `ERROR: … cannot read (UnicodeDecodeError)` line twice, no job file. It then repairs the file and checks `load_env_or_report` applies `PROBE_CONFIG=from-file`. A later edit of that file is not read again. On `95eabc6` the same probe is rc `[1, 0]` with a job registered and the value unset. The commit message records that run.
`MESSAGING.md:369` now says the Python entry points print the one `ERROR` line, and the wrapper prints that line plus `ERROR: cannot load <path> (see the line above)`. That matches the wrapper at `multi-agent-mux-delegate-job:43-44`, where the command substitution captures stdout only.
## F1–F6 otherwise
Unchanged since `95eabc6`, and still the behavior the items ask for:
- **F1.** `mam_lstart` still collapses spaces (`loop_lock.sh:10-12`). A8 writes the marker with the same collapse and locks a two-space `lstart` through a `ps` shim (`tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py:258-293`).
- **F2.** The seven mains still return 1 from `load_env_or_report` without `sys.exit` in the library. The one-line shape is `test_a1_python_entry_points_report_an_unreadable_file_in_one_line`.
- **F3.** Leading BOM is `utf-8-sig` (`envfile.py:60-61`). The example states first-wins and the BOM. A missing explicit `MAM_ENV_FILE` is skipped (`mqtt_common.py:51-54`).
- **F4.** Runner wait knobs use `_int_knob` / `_positive_int`. The bash knobs that reached `[` or `sleep` use `mam_int_knob` via `lib_int.sh`. `SKS_QUIESCENT_INTERVAL` stays raw because its default is the fraction `0.5` (`test_issue26_ints.py:100-101`). `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S` is in the loop skill.
- **F5.** No `MAM_TEST_` in `stall_watch.py`. S13 sets `agent_status_reliable` false on the adapter and still expects no idle notice, then `stalled:blocked`.
- **F6.** The `<= 60 s` sentence is one herdr wait, and the stop test clears the wrapper inside the second `wait_once`.
No version bump and no #17 item-4 / #39 / #40 / #42 work in the range.
## Checks
From this snapshot, MQTT variables unset, no `.mam.env` exported, control-plane venv, `--basetemp` under `/tmp` and not named `mam-review`:
`38 passed in 7.51s` — `tests/test_issue26_envfile.py`, including the new retry test.
The other files in the required list are identical to `95eabc6`. On that tree the same list was 301 passed and 1 skipped (the Linux `/proc` stall test), after a rerun of the two tests that reject the substring `mam-review` in the basetemp path.
## Note
`reconcile.sh:173` still calls `ensure_env_loaded()` directly. An unreadable file there is still a traceback. F2's list is the seven `main`s.

- `git diff --check 0051fd6..HEAD` is clean. 27 files, +397/−88. No version bump, and nothing in the #17 item-4 / #39 / #40 / #42 scope.
## F1. Day-of-month marker
`mam_lstart` is unchanged: `ps -o lstart=` piped through `tr -s ' '` and a trim (`loop_lock.sh:10-12`). The only edit in that file is sourcing `lib_int.sh` for F4b.
`test_a8_second_loop_is_refused_before_a_scheduler_exists` now writes the marker with `" ".join(out.split())` (`tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py:268-272`), the same collapse the product applies. It is parametrized `real` / `padded`. The padded case puts a `ps` shim first on `PATH` that answers `lstart=` with `Thu Oct 1 08:02:03 2026` (two spaces) and asserts the marker stored `Thu Oct 1 08:02:03 2026`. The product, through the same shim, collapses to that string, so the holder stays live and the second loop is refused. That no longer depends on the calendar. Today is the 2nd, inside the old 1–9 failure window; this run passed both parameters.
The other live-marker writer, `tests/test_o3_scoped_guard.py:57-59`, already uses `" ".join(out.stdout.split())`. `tests/test_o2_race_free_lock.py:40-44` still has a `.strip()` helper, and nothing calls it. Hard-coded `Jan 1` markers in those files name a dead pid or a deliberately stale date, so the padding is not what the comparison decides.
F1's product behavior was already the collapse. The new test fails if a marker keeps the raw two-space `lstart` while `mam_lstart` collapses it. It passes on the previous `loop_lock.sh` for the same reason.
## F2. One-line EnvFileError
`load_env_or_report` (`mqtt_common.py:129-141`) catches `EnvFileError`, prints `ERROR: {path}: cannot read ({type})`, and returns False. It does not call `sys.exit`. `ensure_env_loaded` still raises, so library callers keep the exception.
Each listed main returns 1 (job_subscriber returns `RC_ERROR`, which is 1 at `job_subscriber.py:54`):
| Entry | Call |
|---|---|
| `publish_event.main` | `publish_event.py:337-338` |
| `registry.main` | `registry.py:536-537` |
| `job_subscriber.main` | `job_subscriber.py:590-593` |
| `cli.main` | `cli.py:60-61` |
| `bench.main` | `bench.py:166-167` |
| `heartbeat.main` | `heartbeat.py:496-497` |
| `remote.main` | `remote.py:463-464` |
`test_a1_python_entry_points_report_an_unreadable_file_in_one_line` (`tests/test_issue26_envfile.py:185-221`) runs each `main()` on a mode-`000` file and on broken UTF-8. It requires rc 1, stderr exactly that one line, the value `one` absent, and no registry directory created. On the previous mains the same call raised, so stderr was a traceback and this assertion failed.
## F3. BOM, repeated keys, missing file
`parse` opens with `encoding="utf-8-sig"` (`envfile.py:60-61`), so one leading BOM is not part of the first key. Both loaders share that parser. `test_a7_a_leading_bom_is_not_part_of_the_first_key` (`:414-425`) requires `FIRST` and `SECOND` loaded and no skip warning. The previous `utf-8` open failed that test.
Repeated keys stay first-wins in `apply` (unchanged). `.mam.env.example` states it (`:24`) and states the BOM (`:23`). `test_a7_a_repeated_key_keeps_its_first_value_as_documented` (`:428-436`) checks both loaders and that sentence. The sentence is what fails on the previous example.
`MESSAGING.md:369` now says a missing explicit `MAM_ENV_FILE` is skipped, ambient search is refused, and a file that exists but cannot be read is `EnvFileError` with the one-line `ERROR`. That matches `mqtt_common.py:51-54` (not a regular file: return) and `envfile.py:63-64` (read or decode failure: raise). `test_a7_a_missing_explicit_file_loads_nothing_and_says_nothing` (`:439-451`) checks both loaders and the new sentence. The previous paragraph said an error is logged, so the doc assertion failed there.
## F4. Integer knobs
`mam_int` / `mam_int_knob` moved unchanged into `lib_int.sh`. `lib.sh` sources it. `loop_lock.sh` and `diff_collect.sh`, which are sourced without `lib.sh`, source it themselves when the function is absent. `reconcile.sh` already sources `lib.sh` before `POLL_INTERVAL` (`reconcile.sh:22`, `:41`). `deploy/remove.sh` lists `lib_int.sh` only in the "is anything installed" fallback, next to `lib.sh`. Install copies the tree; `check_assets_present` is a sample, not the copy list.
(a) `runner._int_knob` (`runner.py:629-644`) uses `_positive_int`. Unset or empty keeps the default with no warning. An invalid value warns once and keeps the default, including `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S=abc`, which used to raise `ValueError`.
| Knob | Minimum | Default | Call |
|---|---|---|---|
| `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S` | 0 (wait exactly the budget) | 300 | `runner.py:627-628` |
| `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S` | 0 (one look; `max_wait` 0 ends on that pass, `runner.py:789-792`) | budget + grace | `runner.py:762-765` |
| `MAM_JOB_TREE_MAX` | 1 (0 would treat every tree as over) | 50 | `runner.py:766-768` |
`RUNNER_INT_KNOBS` (`tests/test_issue26_ints.py:71-75`) is checked against the call sites (`:286-291`). `0.5` for the child wait is now invalid on purpose: item (a) puts that knob on the integer rule. The old `float()` path fails `test_b1_runner_child_wait_is_decimal_or_the_default`.
(b) These now go through `mam_int_knob`, minimums in `INT_KNOBS` (`:46-57`): `MAM_READY_EMPTY_GIVEUP` 5/min 1, `SKS_EMPTY_GIVEUP` 3/min 1, `SKS_IDLE_RETRIES` 2/min 0, `SKS_IDLE_RETRY_BACKOFF_S` 10/min 0, `MAM_LOCK_STEAL_RETRIES` 3/min 0, `MAM_DIFF_MAX_BYTES` 200000/min 1, `MAM_DIFF_MAX_LINES` 4000/min 1, `RECONCILE_POLL_INTERVAL` 15/min 1. `test_issue6` sets the backoff to `0`, which stays legal. `SKS_EMPTY_GIVEUP=abc` used to produce `integer expression expected`; `test_b5_pane_quiescent_gives_up_on_empty_captures_with_a_bad_knob` (`:479-484`) requires the warning and rc 2 without that error. `loop_lock.sh` and `diff_collect.sh` are sourced alone with `abc`, `1.5`, and `0` (`:461-476`).
`SKS_QUIESCENT_INTERVAL` stays raw (`lib.sh` still passes `${SKS_QUIESCENT_INTERVAL:-0.5}` into `sleep`). The default is the fraction `0.5`, and `mam_int` would reject it. `NOT_ARITHMETIC` records that reason (`test_issue26_ints.py:100-101`).
(c) The loop skill states `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S` (default 300, decimal integer ≥ 0, bad value warns and uses 300) on the job-budget row, and states `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S` (0 means one look) and `MAM_JOB_TREE_MAX` (default 50, minimum 1) in the sub-job paragraph.
## F5. No test switch in the watcher
`MAM_TEST_UNRELIABLE_AGENT` is gone from `stall_watch.py`. `main` still sets `reliable` from `adapter.agent_status_reliable`. S13 starts a one-shot process that sets that attribute to a property returning False on the adapter class, then calls `sw.main` (`tests/test_issue30_stall_watch.py:196-201`, `:454-471`). The assertions are the same: no idle notice while status is idle, then `stalled:blocked` with the detection text, and the log line `idle judgement off for claude`. `test_s13_the_unreliable_case_needs_no_switch_in_the_product` (`:475-478`) requires `MAM_TEST_` absent from the product file, which fails on the previous source.
## F6. The 60 s bound is the herdr wait
`multi-agent-mux-delegate-job/SKILL.md` now limits `<= 60 s` to one herdr wait, and says a publish already in flight runs to its end. The watcher still returns before a notice when the wrapper is gone after a wait (`stall_watch.py:327-328`), and `_may_prompt` checks again after the notice (`:294-299`, `:406-409`).
`test_a_wrapper_gone_during_the_wait_gets_no_notice_and_no_nudge` (`tests/test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py:418-436`) no longer flips alive by call count. `in_wait` sets the wrapper gone on tick 2, inside `wait_once`, and the test requires the wait ticks to be `[1, 2]`, every earlier alive check true, and the last check `(2, False)`, with no notice and no nudge. That is the second wait, not the loop head before it. The after-wait check was already in the base; this tightens the test and the sentence around it.
## Out of scope
The diff is the eight `fix(followups)` / `test(followups)` commits for F1–F6. `lib_int.sh` is the integer function those scripts share, not a new judgment. No stall close, budget extension, or session-id pin moved into bash.
## Checks
From the review snapshot, MQTT variables unset, no `.mam.env` exported, interpreter and `AGENT_PYTHON_BIN` the control-plane venv, `--basetemp` outside the review tree:
`tests/test_issue26_envfile.py`, `tests/test_issue26_ints.py`, `tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py`, `tests/test_issue21_loop_b.py`, `tests/test_issue30_stall_watch.py`, `tests/test_issue30_stall_watch_stop.py`, `tests/test_tier1_unit.py`, `tests/test_version_consistency.py`
First run: 301 passed, 1 skipped, 2 failed in 450.42s. The skip is `test_issue30_stall_watch.py`'s `/proc` marker (`not linux`). The two failures were `test_a4_main_checkout_is_unchanged_by_the_whole_cycle` and `test_l11_diff_only_remote_reviewer_gets_shas_and_the_snapshot_diff`: both reject the substring `mam-review`, and the basetemp path was `/tmp/mam-review-d50d194d.*`, so the sandbox's own path contained it. Rerun of those two with basetemp `/tmp/d50follow.*`: 2 passed in 2.28s.
Pre-fix failure of the new assertions is from the diff, not a second pytest on `0051fd6`: F2's exact one-line stderr, F3's BOM load and the two doc sentences, F4's `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S=abc` and `SKS_EMPTY_GIVEUP=abc`, and F5's `MAM_TEST_` absence. F1 and F6 lock behavior the previous product already had.
## Notes
- `reconcile.sh:173` still calls `ensure_env_loaded()` inside the embedded subscriber. An unreadable `.mam.env` there is still a traceback. F2's list is the seven `main`s, and those return the one line. The library function still does not exit.
- `tests/test_o2_race_free_lock.py:40-44` `get_lstart` still uses `.strip()` only. Nothing calls it.

2. **Explicit Override (`MAM_ENV_FILE`)**: If `MAM_ENV_FILE` is set, only that specific file is parsed. If the specified file does not exist, an error is logged and ambient search is refused (preventing silent fallback to unintended parent configs). Connection attempts fail-closed (`RuntimeError`).

2. **Explicit Override (`MAM_ENV_FILE`)**: If `MAM_ENV_FILE` is set, only that specific file is parsed. If the specified file does not exist, it is skipped silently and ambient search is refused (no fallback to unintended parent configs): the process runs on its environment and the defaults. If it exists but cannot be read or decoded, that is an error (`EnvFileError`): the Python entry points print one `ERROR: <path>: cannot read (<exception type>)` line and exit 1; the wrapper prints that line followed by `ERROR: cannot load <path> (see the line above)` and exits 1.

3. **Workspace Root Auto-Discovery**: If `MAM_ENV_FILE` is not set, the resolver searches candidate paths in order: `MAM_REAL_ROOT`, `WORKSPACE_ROOT`, upward directory walk searching for `.agents` or `.git` boundary markers, and `os.getcwd()`.

(Changelog)
1. **F1 날짜 의존 테스트 (`tests/test_issue21_acceptance.py`)**: `test_a8` 가 매달 1~9 일에 실패했다.
3. **F3 `.mam.env` 세부 (`envfile.py`, `.mam.env.example`, `MESSAGING.md`)**: 첫 줄 UTF-8 BOM 을 벗긴다.

4. **F4 정수 설정값 규칙 확장 (`runner.py`, `lib_int.sh`)**: 러너의 `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S`·`MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S`·`MAM_JOB_TREE_MAX` 가 `_positive_int` 규칙(잘못된 값은 경고 후 기본값; `MAM_CHILD_WAIT_S=abc` 의 ValueError 제거). `mam_int`/`mam_int_knob` 은 `lib.sh` 없이 source 되는 스크립트도 쓰도록 `lib_int.sh` 로 분리. `MAM_WAIT_GRACE_S` 를 loop SKILL.md 에 문서화.
5. **F5 제품 코드의 테스트 훅 제거 (`stall_watch.py`)**: `MAM_TEST_UNRELIABLE_AGENT` 분기를 없애고, S13 은 테스트 seam 으로 같은 상황(`agent_status_reliable=False`)을 만든다.
